How to put your case across as a Driver looking for work.

We have many drivers that wish to apply for work. Any that wish to join need to know what we are looking for here is an example of how to sell yourself.

Hello,

I have a full UK Driving License which I obtained in 2009 and I also have my private hire license issued by the London PCO with plenty of driving experience to show.
Relevant documents are attached in this email. I currently drive; 2013 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo (Executive Car) and I am willing to do standard saloon and estate rates.

Your Chauffeur/Airport Transfer Driver/Minicab Driver position demands the driving skills, customer service experience, and work ethics that I have developed through my driving jobs. I’m an experienced Chauffeur with expertise in driving different kinds of vehicles including Luxury high-end vehicles, I am eager to leverage my driving and customer care abilities to contribute to your firm.

Based on my understanding of your advertisement for the driver’s position, I found myself just the right candidate for this position. I am highly skilled in preparing vehicles by conducting operator maintenance checks, cleaning interior and exterior, and arranging for trips. In addition, I am able to plan routes by studying schedule or special requests. I am adept in checking road conditions and estimating travel times using GPS system.

I am particularly attracted to working as a Driver, because of the roles excellent reputation and focus on client value as well as the urge to work hard due to the fact that you will always be moving and keeping busy which is what I love about this role.

Chauffeur/Personal Driver: Since November 2012 I have been working as a Chauffeur for a high-end UK Transfer firm. My duties included dressing smart and formal at all times and having a very focused and professional approach to work as I was transporting very high-class individuals from Government to Law people. As well as transporting my passengers in the most professional, safe and convenient way. I also learned the importance of trust and reliability as you need to build both of these elements with your passengers to sustain the professionalism at all times. I know London and the surrounding cities very well and have very good road knowledge as well as exceptional and professional service for my Passengers. As well as A Chauffeur, I have worked as a common Minicab Driver for a local office which actually started my career and brought me to where I am now which I am very thankful of. The office at the time used a mobile phone software technology called ‘Cordic.’. My role here was to transport to and from Customers destinations and pickups in the local area and central London.

I have also worked as a Delivery Driver for two years at UPS in Cambridge performing duties such as manual handling, sorting parcels into sections booking collections, checking stock levels, gross annual checks, finance levels, unloading and loading heavy vehicles and using the computer to input various amount of information and data as well looking after the store when required. However, my main role here was to deliver parcels across North and Central London to customer homes as well as retail outlets, stores and offices. I enjoyed doing this job as I have always been interested in driving as I like exploring and working at the same time on the road, getting around London. I am well experienced in multi-drop delivery services and I know London really well as well as being able to use PDA devices to authorise deliveries, make adjustments, correct errors and use the built-in GPS. I am also familiar with the process of parcel replenishment and have learned the skills necessary to run a Parcel Depot as I have been trained to become a Service Manager during my time at UPS and can go on to become a manager.

Not only this, I have also worked with Swissport UK at Stansted Airport as a Baggage Handler. This role required me to unload and load aircraft baggage to and from the aircraft starting from the point of check-in and through to the baggage hall. I have a very good understanding of manual handling and health and safety procedures and I also achieved a certificate from the Department for Transport (DfT) for completing health and safety at work modules.

I have my own transport which I can use to commute to work and back home anytime and any day. I am fully flexible and know my way around London and the surrounding counties. I am familiar with and recognise the policies and procedures as I have worked in the Airport Environment before and I am always keeping myself updated.

Why an MPV had to be used

What happens when passengers don’t read the luggage information provided.

As an airport transfer provider we have to make your journey as best we can. To do this we expect that passengers give all of the correct information and read the what happens next information sent with the confirmation.

So this picture shows the luggage that the passenger had and expected to fit in an estate car. He was not happy when he had to pay extra for an MPV 5.

We give size’s for luggage, This passenger did not inform us of the extra luggage and was lucky that we did not charge a whole new fare but just for the upgrade.

What happen after booking

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Please take a few moments to check through your booking and make sure all details are correct ie: pick up date, time, location etc. It is the responsibility of the person who made the booking to check that all details entered are correct.

PICK UP FROM AN AIRPORT:

VERY IMPORTANT: On your booking we expect the correct scheduled landing date, time and flight number. MOST BOOKINGS THAT HAVE ISSUES start with incorrect information supplied to us.

Your driver will monitor your flight and will go into the Arrivals Hall 30 minutes after your flight has landed. Your driver will wait there for you with the Lead Passengers name on a name board and will wait for up to 45 minutes. This does not apply if you selected “Pick up at set time” from an Airport, Seaport or railway station.

No bags checked in? That is ok. Your driver will monitor your flight and go into the Arrivals Hall 15 minutes after your flight has landed. Your driver will wait there for you with the Lead Passengers name on a name board and will wait for up to 45 minutes. This does not apply if you selected “Pick up at set time” from an Airport, Seaport or railway station.

PICK UP FROM AN ADDRESS:

It is important that you have entered the full and correct pick up address on your booking.

The driver will not pick up from an address that is not on the booking, unless authorized by the office. If the additional/different pick up is not on the original booking, there will be an additional charge.

LUGGAGE:

Please make sure you have booked the correct vehicle that will accommodate all the passengers and luggage. If you have booked the wrong size vehicle and/or have more luggage than was stated in your booking and a larger vehicle has to be sent out, this will be charged to you as a new fare and your original booking will not be refunded.

EXTRA CHARGES:

The only times that there will be extra charges is if there are additional pick ups/drop offs that were not included on the booking when the booking was made online, or if you take longer than our Meet & Greet time, or if you keep the driver waiting longer than 10 minutes past your pick up time if being picked up at an address.

CHILD SEATS

We do not supply car/booster seats as standard. Please see here for the UK law regarding taxis/private hire vehicles and child seats.

Please call our office on +44(0)330 088 2222, Monday to Sunday. If you cannot reach anyone at this number please call the Emergency Out of Hours number printed at the bottom of your booking confirmation. Please Note: NO bookings will be taken on the Emergency number

Need to make changes/add information/cancel your booking:

Please reply to your booking confirmation with any changes etc. We will not be able to execute changes/cancellations unless it is done so via email.
